Pharynx Diagram

Anatomy of the pharynx (throat). The pharynx is a hollow tube that starts behind the nose, goes down the neck, and ends at the top of the trachea and esophagus. The three parts of the pharynx are the nasopharynx, oropharynx, and hypopharynx.

The main features of pharynx are: The wall of pharynx consists of both longitudinal and circular muscles. These muscles determine the shape of the lumen. Isthmus connects oropharynx to nasopharynx.
The Pharynx. The pharynx is a muscular tube that connects the oral and nasal cavity to the larynx and oesophagus. It begins at the base of the skull, and ends at the inferior border of the cricoid cartilage (C6).
